Sandos Caracol Eco Resort *****

The Sandos Caracol Eco Resort is located on the Riviera Maya, on a sandy beach and nestled in a unique vegetation between jungle, mangroves and natural lagoons (cenotes). The hotel is located 15 minutes from the center of Playa del Carmen and 50 minutes from the airport.

The Sandos Caracol Eco Resort consists of 2 different areas. The family area and the Select Club area. The facilities of the entire complex include 7 restaurants, two 24-hour snack bars (incl. vegetarian/vegan), 10 bars, three pools, one of which is exclusively for the Select adult area, a water park with 29 slides, as well as a spa area and a discotheque. Free Wi-Fi in the outdoor area in the Eco Signature and Select rooms and in the Beach Club House. The hotel also offers the All Nature experience, a variety of nature activities and Mayan performances where guests can experience the local fauna, flora and culture up close. Furthermore, an Aqua Park is available to guests.

The newly renovated rooms have a king-size bed and a bunk bed for 2 children, shower/toilet, bathrobe, hairdryer, air conditioning, cable TV, iron & ironing board, alarm clock, minibar, safe (laptop size), cosmetic mirror, hot and cold drinking water dispenser, Wi-Fi and balcony or terrace with garden, jungle or pool view. These rooms have the same amenities as the Superior rooms, but offer a bunk bed for 3 children in a separate children's room, 2 showers/toilets and a balcony with a plunge pool. (2FS)

The tastefully furnished rooms have a king-size or two queen-size beds, shower/toilet, bathrobe, hairdryer, air conditioning, cable TV, iron & ironing board, ceiling fan, alarm clock, safe (laptop size), minibar (soft drinks and beer - daily refill), drinking water dispenser and balcony or terrace with garden, jungle or pool view (DCZ/DCO).
Select Club inclusive services: Private check-in/out, 1 bottle of sparkling wine, welcome fruit platter, premium drinks, exclusive à la carte restaurant for breakfast and lunch, free internet service in the outdoor area, use of the Select Pool Club (Adults only), library, snacks in the Beach Club, private beach section with sun loungers, umbrellas and drink service, as well as an exclusive beach club house with concierge service (also Adults only)

These rooms have the same amenities as the Superior Select Club rooms, but offer a king-size bed, 1 sofa bed and a whirlpool in the room (2SZ/1SZ).

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). For double occupancy with 1/2 children or 3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room, meaning occupancy is 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

All Inclusive

24-hour All-Inclusive includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet style, also à la carte in the evening, snacks, national and international alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the bars and restaurants, breakfast and lunch in the exclusive à la carte restaurant (for Select Club guests). We recommend bringing beach shoes. There are partially difficult to access and rocky sections on the beach.

Hotels in Mexico will now introduce an "Eco-Tax". This requires every hotel room user in Mexico to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently costs a one-time 224 Mexican Pesos or approx. 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to have the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars with you.

In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly without spatial separation in the general living area of the hotel room.

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, increased amounts of brown algae are often recorded in the Caribbean during this period. The beach and sea are affected. The hotel management and local authorities are of course endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which emits a slight background noise.
