Location

The VIDAMAR Resort Madeira is located on the south coast of Madeira, directly on the sea with a fantastic view of the Atlantic. In the immediate vicinity, cafes, bars, and shops invite you to linger. The city center, the harbor, and the picturesque old town are about 2 km away. There you will find more recommended restaurants and shopping facilities.

Facilities

The generously designed complex consists of 2 interconnected buildings, each housing 150 comfortable rooms facing the sea. The harmonious overall concept includes a spacious reception hall with a bar, a buffet restaurant, and three specialty restaurants ("KOI", "Casa das Estetadas", and "Mamma Mia"), a kids' club, and the 2,200 m² "Thalasso Sea Spa". The reception is located on the 4th floor of the hotel. Wi-Fi is included throughout the hotel. A highlight of the complex is a glass panoramic elevator that leads down to the 3 seawater swimming pools and 1 children's pool with sun terrace (here you will also find the restaurant "Sabor a Mar" serving light meals and snacks for lunch). Sun loungers, mattresses, and umbrellas are included. You can access the sea directly via two bathing platforms.

Accommodation

Double room, partial sea view or garden view

The double rooms with partial sea view or garden view are generously designed with approximately 39 m² and feature a bath/shower and toilet, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, cable TV, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi (included), mini-fridge, kettle, safe (included), balcony, and are located on the lower floors towards the garden/sea side (2MG). Also bookable as a double room for single use (1MG).

Double room, sea view

Equipped like the double rooms with partial sea view or garden view, but with a direct sea view (floors 3-5) (DM). Also bookable as a Type O room (DMO) at a special price and with a limited quota. Also bookable as a double room for single use (DEM).

Superior double room, sea view

Equipped like the double rooms with partial sea view or garden view, but with a direct sea view and located on floors 6-8 (DMU). Also bookable for single use (DME). Also bookable as a Superior double room with sea view Type O, at a special price and with a limited quota. (UMO)

Premium double room, sea view

The Premium double rooms with sea view are more modernly furnished, approximately 39 m² in size, located on floors 9-10, and in addition to a direct sea view, offer daily free access to the otherwise chargeable 2200 m² Thalasso Spa (without treatments), fresh fruit upon arrival, and a daily bottle of mineral water, tea and coffee making facilities (2PM). Otherwise, the equipment is the same as the double rooms with sea view. Also bookable as a Premium double room for single use (1PM). Also bookable as a Type O room (PMO) at a special price and with a limited quota.

Family room

The family rooms consist of 2 double rooms with an connecting door. They are located on the first two floors and have the same amenities as the double rooms with partial sea view or garden view, but in double capacity (2 bathrooms, 4 beds, etc.). This room type must be occupied by at least 4 people. The maximum occupancy is 4 adults and 2 children (up to 11 years) (DF2), bookable for Winter 25 and Summer 26.

Premium family room

The premium family rooms are located above the standard family rooms and consist of 2 separate bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom is equipped with a king-size bed and a balcony with sea view, the second bedroom has twin beds and offers country/panoramic views (PF2).

Suite

The suites have the same amenities as the double rooms, are generously sized at approximately 51 m², feature a living area (with balcony and sea view) and a separate bedroom (with door; window facing the country side) (S2M).

Romantic Rooms

The Romantic Rooms include a romantic wellness package and are intended for couples in love. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with strawberries and sparkling wine, as well as rose petals on the bed. A couples massage in the renowned spa area and a picnic basket packed for you to spend a romantic outing for two are also part of the package (no longer included from Summer 26). Valentine's Day Special: For arrivals between February 8th and February 13th, guests receive the romantic package free of charge. (EDV code: FNC234P)

Premier Junior Suite, sea view

Guests of the Premier Junior Suites with sea view enjoy the VIDAMAR Club Level experience: a private check-in service, complimentary soft drinks in the minibar upon arrival, a personal assistant, evening turn-down service, pillow selection, premium dine-around (reserved seating), and unlimited access to the Thalasso Spa. The completely renovated Premium Junior Suites are located on floors 1 to 3 in Tower 1, are exclusively bookable for adults, and the direct sea view is reserved for schauinsland-reisen guests. The Premier Junior Suites feature a comfortable living area, Smart TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable lounge furniture, refrigerator, safe, coffee and tea making facilities, and a spacious terrace or balcony with sea view, which may be partially obstructed by plants. The sleeping area includes a double bed or two twin beds and a dressing table. The bathrooms are equipped with eco-friendly amenities, a double sink, a walk-in shower, toilet, and bidet (B2J). Also bookable as a Type O room (JMA).

VIDA Junior Suite, garden view

The new VIDA Junior Suites with garden view are located on floors 1 to 3 in Tower 1. They feature a comfortable living area, Smart TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable lounge furniture, refrigerator, safe, coffee and tea making facilities, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, and a spacious terrace or balcony. The sleeping area includes a double bed or two twin beds and a dressing table. The bathrooms are equipped with eco-friendly amenities, a double sink, a walk-in shower, toilet, and bidet. (JGB).

Rich breakfast buffet. Dinner "Dine Around": Take advantage of the hotel's "Dine Around" concept (drinks not included) and dine in the evening, in addition to the main restaurant "Ocean Buffet" with its varied international cuisine, also in the Italian restaurant "Mamma Mia by Giovanni", the sushi restaurant "KOI", or the traditional Casa das Espetadas restaurant. Here you can choose from the à la carte menu (a credit of €15 per person will be applied to your final bill). Free registration at the hotel reception (24 hours in advance) is required, and you can visit each restaurant a maximum of 1 time per week of stay.

Sports included

VIDA Health Club with cardio equipment and classes, volleyball, basketball, 2 squash courts. Aqua Area with indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna (alternatively, use the private paid spa area; information can be found under Wellness), billiards/snooker, and table tennis.

Sports for a fee

PADI/SSI diving school. The hotel offers discounts on green fees at golf courses and free transfers to the golf courses (subject to availability).

Children's program

'Dolphins' Miniclub for children aged 3-6 and 'Sharks' Miniclub for children aged 7-11. Babysitting service for children under 3 years upon request (for a fee).

Wellness

Spa area (access from 16 years only): In the state-of-the-art approx. 2200 m² spa area, you will find relaxation at the highest level. Thalasso Vital Swimming Pool, sauna, whirlpool, Turkish bath, and contrast showers, as well as massage rooms with sea views and a lounge are available to hotel guests for a fee.

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From Pico dos Barcelos you overlook Funchal Bay and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you visit the Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional basket sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue via Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, we ascend to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. The lunch break is taken here. The return journey follows the north coast via Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we ascend via the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, famous for its thatched houses. Lunch break here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species, after a 1.5-hour levada walk (difficulty: easy) (entrance fee and guided tour included).
