Location

The Matemwe Sands Beach Resort is located in Matemwe on the north coast of Zanzibar, directly on the pristine private sandy beach. The quiet location offers the ideal spot for snorkeling and diving, as well as relaxing beach days and impressive sunsets. The transfer to the airport takes approx. 25 minutes.

The elegant resort, built in 2025, offers a modern and stylish atmosphere for a relaxing beach holiday. With a total of 68 comfortable rooms, the complex has 2 restaurants, 1 main/buffet restaurant and an à la carte restaurant with selected specialties. In the outdoor area, there is a spacious swimming pool (35 m long, 18 m wide) inviting you to relax and swim, as well as a pool bar with snacks and drinks (according to AI program) and a beach bar. Beach and bath towels, as well as sun loungers and umbrellas are available free of charge.

We would like to inform you that all airlines from Tanzania are currently on the EU's so-called ‘blacklist’. For this reason, they are currently not authorised to operate long-haul flights to the EU. We are therefore not currently using any of these airlines for our long-haul flights to the EU.
The lack of authorisation is not due to specific safety problems with the individual airlines, but rather to the inspection and safety procedures of the Tanzanian aviation authority, which do not currently meet the safety requirements of the EU.
However, the airlines that we use for domestic flights (for example, for transfer flights from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania) are subject to the international safety assessment ISSA of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) or a comparable safety assessment. These assessments correspond to the globally recognised safety standards of the aviation industry.
