Local customs and etiquette:
Omanis are known for their warmth and hospitality. Visitors should respect local customs by dressing conservatively, especially at religious sites. Public displays of affection are generally avoided, and loud or disruptive behavior is discouraged.
Photography and drones:
Always ask for permission before photographing people. Avoid taking photos of government buildings and military sites. Flying drones without a license is illegal.
Alcohol and e-cigarettes:
Alcohol can be purchased and consumed in licensed places such as hotels and restaurants; the legal minimum age for alcohol consumption is 21 years. It is also possible for visitors to shop at the airport duty-free. Public intoxication is prohibited. E-cigarettes are illegal in Oman.

Seasonal information

During the fasting month of Ramadan, there may be restrictions on hotel operations. Hotels also use this time for maintenance and minor renovation work, which may lead to impairments such as pool closures, etc. Furthermore, some restaurants may be closed, as meals are not served everywhere.
The entertainment program in the hotel is cancelled or limited.
During Ramadan, eating, drinking, and smoking in public places is not permitted.

Entry requirements

German citizens can enter Oman visa-free for up to 14 days. For entry into Oman, a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival is required, as well as a return flight ticket, a confirmed hotel reservation, health insurance, and sufficient financial means for the stay.
