Location

The Joy Island Resort is located on the eastern outer reef of the North Male Atoll. The island can be reached from the airport in approximately 40 minutes by speedboat. The house reef is about 100 m away.

Facilities

Opened in 2023, the resort has a total of 151 rooms, which have been built both on land and over the water. Amenities include a lobby with a reception area and seating. Furthermore, the resort features a boutique. Three restaurants and a bar cater to guests' culinary needs. These include "The Market" with its inventive international cuisine. Enjoy authentic Italian dishes and fresh stone-baked pizza at "Il Basilico" restaurant, experience a small journey through Japanese cuisine at the Teppanyaki restaurant "Japanese Garden," or relax with a dinner under the stars at "Palm Beach" restaurant. Additionally, the resort has a pool. Umbrellas, sun loungers with pads, and beach towels are available free of charge at the swimming pool and on the beach.

Beach Villa

The Beach Villas are approximately 50 m² and feature a bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, safe, ceiling fan, minibar (for a fee), coffee/tea maker, and a furnished terrace with direct beach access. (2BV)

Beach Suite

With the same facilities as the Beach Villa, the Beach Suite is larger (approx. 70 m²) and is located on the sunset side of the island. (BS2)
Also bookable with a private pool for an additional charge (approx. 100 m²). (KR2) Rooms with direct pool/sea access present an increased safety risk for small children. Therefore, for safety reasons, Schauinsland-Reisen requires a minimum age of 6 years for children when booking these room types.

Lagoon Villa

With the same facilities as the Beach Villa, the Lagoon Villa is larger (approx. 60 m²) and is located on the sunrise side. Additionally, the villa features direct access to the sea. (LV2)

Lagoon Suite

With the same facilities as the Lagoon Villa, the Lagoon Suite is larger (approx. 70 m²), is located on the sunset side, and additionally features a bathtub. (DL2)

All Inclusive

All-Inclusive

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the main restaurant. Afternoon snacks, cake, tea, and coffee from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Selected alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soft drinks, juices, beer, house wine, cocktails, and mocktails from 10:00 AM to midnight at the currently open bar. Daily replenishment of the minibar with selected drinks (water and soft drinks). Additionally, use of non-motorized water sports is included (canoe, paddle board, snorkeling equipment).

Premium All-Inclusive (bookable until 31.10.26)

In addition to the All-Inclusive package, a selection of premium wines, prosecco, various signature drinks, fresh juices, and tea and coffee blends are included from 10:00 AM to midnight at the currently open bar. Daily replenishment of the minibar additionally includes beer, wine, and snacks. Furthermore, two excursions—sunset fishing and a local island trip (subject to change)—are included. Guests also receive 20% off all spa treatments, a romantic dinner on the beach, and a BBQ dinner on the beach.

PADI diving school, padel tennis, fishing, and motorized water sports.

The "Kiddie Cove" kids' club offers changing activities for children aged 3 to 12. It also features a large indoor playground.

Wait times of 3 hours or more for onward transfers are possible.
There may be 1–2 stopovers for seaplane transfers.
For arrivals/departures outside these times, an overnight stay in Malé must be booked in advance. The costs for this are to be borne by the guest. This excludes changes due to flight delays, bad weather, or long wait times at immigration (in such cases, our local agency will take care of a potential overnight stay).
The luggage allowance for seaplanes is 20 kg + 3 kg hand luggage per person. Excess baggage must be paid for on-site (approx. 5 USD per kg). Excess baggage is usually delivered by boat.

In the Maldives, most rooms are equipped with one or two queen/king-size beds. With an occupancy of 2 adults + 1 or 2 children, it may be the case that only 1 or 2 large beds are available. Accordingly, it may happen that when 2 adults + 1 or 2 children are in one room, a child must sleep in the parents' bed! An extra bed cannot be guaranteed in advance and is allocated on-site subject to availability.
