Location

Classic round trip 7 nights/8 days
1st Day: Seeduwa
Arrival at Colombo airport and transfer to the hotel near the airport. Time to relax in the afternoon, followed by the first meeting with the travel group and the tour guide in the evening for an informational briefing with further details for the coming days.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Tamaring Tree or similar.
2nd Day: Seeduwa – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya
After breakfast, drive towards the Cultural Triangle, with the first destination being Polonnaruwa, the second royal city of Sri Lanka and a World Heritage site. Polonnaruwa experienced its golden age from the 11th – 13th century. The oversized Buddha statues of Gal Vihara, carved out of a single rock, are well known. After the visit, continue the journey to Sigiriya. Lunch at a typical local restaurant.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Kasyapa Lion Rock or similar.
3rd Day: Sigiriya
After breakfast, drive to the famous rock fortress of Sigiriya. Climb the 200m high Lion Rock, where King Kassapa built a fortress in the 5th century. Lunch at a typical local restaurant. In the afternoon, experience the simple life of the rural population during a village tour, as it is still practiced today in remote parts of the country.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Kasyapa Lion Rock or similar.
4th Day: Sigiriya – Dambulla – Matale-Kandy
On this day, you will visit the impressive cave temples of Dambulla with their countless Buddha statues. On the way to Kandy, you will visit a typical spice and herbal garden. Lunch will take place in the form of an interactive cooking experience. Continue to Kandy, the country's last royal city. Here you will visit the famous Temple of the Tooth and attend a cultural dance performance in the evening.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Melhiem Kandy or similar.
5th Day: Kandy
In the morning, drive to Peradeniya, the Botanical Garden, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Asia. Marvel at the countless tropical plants and flowers here. Lunch will be enjoyed at a Sinhalese restaurant. In the afternoon, you will visit a gemstone workshop during a city tour.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel Melhiem Kandy or similar.
6th Day: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya-Haputale
After breakfast, the journey continues along winding roads up into the green mountain world of the island. Lunch will be taken at a typical local restaurant, and after a short walk to a nearby waterfall, the journey continues towards tea plantations. During a visit to a tea factory, the workers will explain their craft to you, and you will receive a cup of freshly brewed tea. In Nuwara Eliya, known as the city above the clouds, the influence of the English colonial rulers can still be felt today. Here, you will visit a typical local market during a city tour. The final stage of the day is the village of Haputale, which you reach by train. You can get to know the village better during a walk.

7th Day: Haputale – Tissamaharama-Yala
Early in the morning, the journey descends to the south of the country. On the way, you will see numerous vegetable plantations and rice terraces. After checking into your hotel in Tissamaharama, you will drive by jeep in the afternoon into Yala or Udawalawe National Park, where, with a little patience, one can see bears, elephants, buffalo, mongooses, and leopards in the wild.
Overnight stay and dinner at Hotel The Rain Tree or similar.
8th Day: Yala – Galle – Colombo/Beach Hotel
After breakfast, the journey continues along the southwest coast, past the fort city of Galle towards Colombo or your booked beach hotel (For package tours, the transfer to the connecting hotel is automatically included; for component bookings, this can be added upon request and for an additional fee).
Green tea plantations cover hilly landscape under cloudy sky.

Board starts with dinner on the day of arrival and ends with breakfast on the day of departure.

Beaches

The beaches are generally public natural beaches. Depending on current and weather conditions, the sand of the beach can be eroded.
