Location

The Minos Mare Royal Hotel is located directly on a Blue Flag sandy beach in the Platanias holiday area and is an ideal place for peace and relaxation. The town centre of Rethymnon is approx. 5 km from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and tavernas can be found in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion Airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania Airport 72 km.

The well-maintained 5-star resort, a favourite among repeat guests and a Schauinsland-Reisen Original, features 61 rooms, a 24-hour reception, lift, a main restaurant, an à la carte restaurant, a lobby bar, a mini-market, a souvenir shop and a small library. The outdoor area features a beautiful garden with many shade-providing palm trees, a swimming pool with hydromassage function and a pool bar. Sun loungers, umbrellas and pool towels are provided free of charge for hotel guests at both the pool and the beach.

Superior Double Room

These modern rooms feature a bathroom with a whirlpool bathtub/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and a cosmetic mirror. They are also equipped with individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, telephone, flat-screen satellite TV, radio/CD player, minibar (for a fee), coffee/tea station, pillow menu and a balcony with garden view (DSU). A complimentary bottle of water and a small treat are provided in the rooms for guests upon arrival.

Deluxe Double Room Pool View

With the same facilities as the Superior double rooms, these rooms have a pool view. Guests receive a welcome package (sparkling wine and fruit) upon arrival and mineral water is replenished daily. Additionally, lunch is included as a set menu once per stay (DBP/IDD).
Also available for single use (1DZ).

Executive Suite Sea View

With the same facilities as the Superior double rooms, these spacious suites offer a combined living/sleeping area as well as a separate bedroom and a balcony with sea view (S2). Additionally, the minibar is refilled once per week.

Meals

Half Board (bookable for summer 2026)

A rich breakfast buffet (7:00-10:30 am) in the main restaurant with views of the green gardens and the pool provides the perfect start to the day.
A selection of egg dishes and omelettes can be ordered à la carte.
For dinner (7:00-9:30 pm), guests can choose from four main courses (meat, fish, vegetarian, grilled). In addition, there is a buffet with starters and desserts.
Appropriate attire (long trousers, appropriate footwear) is requested for dinner.

All Inclusive

Premium All Inclusive (from 2027)

Breakfast (7:30–10:00 am), lunch (1:00–3:00 pm) and dinner (7:00–9:30 pm) in the "Veranda" main restaurant.
Rich breakfast buffet in the morning with Greek specialities as well as freshly prepared egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, and coffee/tea specialities.
Alternatively, a late-riser breakfast is offered from 10:00–11:00 am.
Lunch is a light buffet featuring salads, cold and hot starters, main courses, desserts and ice cream.
Dinner offers salads and starters, as well as a selection of four main courses (meat, fish, vegetarian or grilled dish) served at the table. Once weekly Greek or Italian theme buffet.
At the "Giardino" pool/snack bar, various snacks and refreshments are served from 11:00 am–3:00 pm, including freshly squeezed juices, toast, filled croissants, omelettes, fruit tarts, and cold and hot finger foods. Coffee, cake and pastries (4:00–5:00 pm) as well as a Greek aperitif with Ouzo or Raki and local side dishes (5:00–6:30 pm) complete the offer. Midnight snack for late arrivals from 10:00 pm–midnight with sandwiches, salads and burgers.
Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included at the bars that are open, depending on their operating hours. Drinks offered include soft drinks, water, juices, coffee/tea specialities, beer, local wines, selected branded spirits, cocktails, sparkling wine and ice cream. Selected drinks are also included at the "Afros" beach bar during operating hours.
A 5-course dinner at the "Afros Beach Restaurant" à la carte restaurant is included once per week (reservation required, subject to availability). Additionally, a gala evening with a 5-course menu and live music takes place once a week.
Furthermore, a welcome package with water, wine and small snacks is included, as well as daily minibar replenishment with water, soft drinks, juice, local beer, wine and Raki.

Climate resilience levy note

For stays from 1 January 2018, the Greek government will levy a climate resilience tax, which must be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and, as of 1 January 2025, ranges from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euro per day and room.
