Location

Ideal for a summer holiday in the Austrian mountains, Hotel Gungau serves as an excellent starting point for an active hiking or cycling vacation. The hotel is located directly at the Zwölferkogel valley station, with 400 km of hiking trails and 400 km of well-marked bike routes and trails opening up around the property. In winter, approximately 408 kilometers of slopes attract ski enthusiasts to the area. For a relaxing balance after an active day, the popular town of Saalbach-Hinterglemm offers various shops and cafés, inviting guests to stroll and unwind.

Facilities

Hotel Gungau impresses with its familiar and cozy atmosphere, welcoming guests to a total of 35 traditional rooms furnished with wood designs. After an eventful day in the Salzburg mountains or in the valley head of Hinterglemm, guests can find rest and relaxation in the hotel's own wellness area. Culinary enjoyment with regional specialties is provided by an à la carte restaurant—open only in winter—featuring continuous hot food. For a cozy conclusion to an eventful day, a get-together at the hotel bar is recommended. Families with children will particularly enjoy the playground and playroom facilities.

Double room

The cozy and bright double rooms are equipped with a double bed, seating area, bathroom with shower/WC, telephone, flatscreen TV, safe (free of charge), Wi-Fi, and a balcony (approx. 23m², D). Optionally available as a double room Type A for 2 adults and 1-2 children with a double bed and bunk bed (DA), or as a double room Type B for 2 adults and 1-3 children with a double bed, bunk bed, and pull-out couch (DB).

Single room

These comfortable rooms with wooden elements are slightly smaller and feature a grandlit bed, but no seating area. The remaining amenities are similar to the double rooms (approx. 16m², E).

Family room

2-room family room.
These spacious rooms offer enough space for the whole family and feature a living/sleeping room with a double pull-out couch, as well as a separate bedroom with a double bed and connecting door. Additionally, there is a seating area and direct access to the balcony from both rooms (approx. 38m², DF2).

Double room Comfort from Summer 2026

The double rooms Comfort (DKO, approx. 23 m²) are equipped with shower/WC, telephone, cable TV, safe, double bed, seating area, and balcony.

Double room Deluxe from Summer 2026

With otherwise similar amenities to the Comfort double rooms, these are slightly more spacious (approx. 2 m² larger) and offer a bunk bed in addition to the double bed (DD2).

Double room Superior from Summer 2026

Also similar to the Comfort rooms, these are approximately 31 m² in size and feature a double bed, bunk bed, and pull-out couch (DSU).

Junior Suite from Summer 2026

The cozy junior suites are also similarly equipped to the Comfort rooms but are approximately 38 m² in size and feature a living/sleeping room with a double pull-out couch and a separate bedroom with a double bed (JS2).
