This small, privately run country house is situated above Calheta at an altitude of approx. 500 m. Several Levada hiking trails start in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The beach and the centre of Calheta can be reached after about 3 km.

The charming, German-speaking managed hotel is family-friendly and consists of 5 building sections. It features only 22 individually designed rooms, a reception with hiking literature, a cosy restaurant where home-made specialities are served, a bar with a fireplace and library (Wi-Fi included throughout the house), a sauna and a terrace leading to an approx. 12,000 m² flower, vegetable and herb garden, which houses a saltwater pool with sun loungers and parasols (included).

Arrival by car

From Madeira Airport (FNC):
Drive on the motorway (VIA RAPIDA) via Funchal to Ribeira Brava (end of the VIA RAPIDA - beginning of the VIA EXPRESSO expressway), at the roundabout take the 1st exit towards Ribeira Brava. At the 2nd roundabout, take the direction of Ponta do Sol (through the tunnel). From there, always follow the road through the tunnels until you reach Calheta. (You will pass the following towns: Lugar de Baixo, Ponta do Sol and Madalena do Mar.)
At the Calheta roundabout, there are the following options: Lombo do Doutor, Prazeres, Estrela and Calheta Centre (symbolised by a dot in a circle).
Drive towards Prazeres. After two more tunnels, there is a first exit for Estreito da Calheta. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS! Wait until the next roundabout, then take the 1st exit from the roundabout towards Estreito da Calheta and follow the road slowly uphill for 1.3 km. Stay on the main road.
This road will eventually lead you to the old country road "ER 101". Turn left there towards Prazeres, Porto Moniz. (After 500 m you will see the town entrance sign for Estreito da Calheta on the left.)
1.8 km after turning onto the ER 101, you will see an official sign marked "Atrio". Turn right onto a paved path and follow it left uphill towards the forest. After 150 metres, Atrio is on the right, hidden behind high walls.
If you have nevertheless taken the first exit "Estreito da Calheta" after the tunnel, drive right uphill to the stop sign, then right again to the country road "ER101".
