The PortoBay Group hotel is located above the Lido, separated from the sea only by the promenade. The city center is approx. 2.5 km away. A shopping center with numerous shops is located in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The airport is approx. 19 km away.

This comfortable 4-star hotel is located in the Vila Porto Mare resort complex and features 146 studios and suites. It offers guests a lobby with reception, elevator, 4 restaurants (including a buffet restaurant), 3 bars, and internet access (free of charge). In the garden area, there are 2 swimming pools, a children's pool, a pool bar, and a sun terrace (sun loungers, bath towels, and parasols at the pool are included). Studio partial sea view

The studios are approx. 24-26 m² and feature a combined living/sleeping area (2 single beds, 90x190 cm) with bath/WC, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, bathrobe, air conditioning, Smart TV, telephone, safe (included), Wi-Fi (included), desk, seating area, kitchenette (stove, microwave, and small refrigerator), as well as a balcony with a partial sea view, which may be limited depending on the location (S12). Can also be booked as a studio for single occupancy (S11).

Superior Studio partial sea view

Equipped the same as the studios, but slightly larger at approx. 31-37 m² (US2). Can be booked as a superior studio for single occupancy (US1). Also available as a Superior Studio Type O (SOU) with limited allocation and at a special price.

Junior Suite partial sea view

Feature the same equipment as the studios, but are slightly larger at approx. 38-44 m² and consist of a living room and a separate bedroom (with 2 single beds) separated by a sliding door (JS2). Can be booked as a junior suite for single occupancy (JS1). Also available as a Junior Suite Type O with limited allocation and at a special price (JSA).

Breakfast/Half board

Breakfast in buffet form. Half board includes breakfast and dinner in buffet form. If guests with half board wish to visit one of the à la carte restaurants, they receive a credit of €17 per person per dinner. Currently, 3 à la carte restaurants are open - the "Alfama" restaurant (Mediterranean), "Il Basilico" (Italian), and the new "Horta" restaurant (healthy comfort food/Wednesday-Sunday).

Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the heights of Pico dos Barcelos, you overlook the bay of Funchal and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (Europe's highest cliff at 580m), and then the path takes us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, we ascend to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. This is where the lunch break is taken. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we go up over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Then we go downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's Laurisilva forest, which has been declared a World Heritage site. The journey continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. This is where the lunch break is taken. Afterwards, we go to Pico do Facho. Finally, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and last excursion leads us, after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty: easy), to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and tour included).
