This Madeiran country house hotel is located in a quiet area above the island's capital, Funchal, right next to the famous Palheiro Gardens. It is approximately 7 km to the centre of Funchal, where you will find restaurants, bars, shopping and entertainment options. A free shuttle bus to Funchal runs once daily (subject to availability, limited capacity). Funchal International Airport is approximately 15 km away.

The 5-star hotel features a main building ("Old House") with 3 floors and 2 annexes ("Golfwing" and "Gardenwing") with 2 floors each, totalling 38 luxuriously appointed rooms/suites, and provides direct access to the beautiful Palheiro golf course. Facilities include a reception area with a 24-hour front desk, a lobby with seating, an exquisite à la carte restaurant, a fireplace room with a library, a TV room, a small, cosy lounge with a bar, and a spa area with an indoor pool, sauna, and steam bath. In the beautifully landscaped garden, there is a sun terrace, a freshwater swimming pool, and a tennis court. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hotel guests at the pool area free of charge.

Double room

The double rooms (D) were renovated in summer 2023 and are approx. 28 m² in size; they are located in a separate annex ("Gardenwing") adjacent to the main building ("Old House"). Amenities include a bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer, desk, minibar (for a fee), safe (included), air conditioning (individually controlled, seasonal), central heating (individually controlled, seasonal), cable TV, Wi-Fi (included), and garden views. These rooms are located on the ground floor or the first floor. Also available to book for single use in the summer (DE) or as a Type I double room with limited availability at a special price (DI).

Superior double room

The superior double rooms are approx. 32 m² in size and offer similar amenities to the double rooms. They are located in the annex ("Golfwing") on the ground floor or 1st floor with views of the golf course. The bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub and a separate shower, and those on the ground floor partly feature a small veranda. Also available to book for single use (DSU/DEU).

Deluxe double room

The deluxe double rooms were extensively renovated in summer 2022. They are located in the main building ("Old House") and offer similar amenities to the double rooms. Also available to book for single use (DD2/DD1). Bookable in the summer.

Junior suite

The junior suites (JS2) were extensively renovated in summer 2022. They offer similar amenities to the double rooms but are significantly more spacious (approx. 52 m²) and are located on the ground floor or 1st floor of the main building ("Old House"). These rooms are available upon request.

Arrival by car

Directions from Funchal Airport (FNC):
Take the motorway towards Funchal. Please note the numbered exit signs on the motorway and take exit 13 (Funchal (Boa Nova); P.Ferreiro).
Please observe your speed when taking the exit. The exit is very short and has a sharp right-hand bend. Turn right towards Palheiro Ferreiro, Palheiro Golf. After the S-bend, turn left and follow the signs for Palheiro Golf up the mountain.
When you enter the Palheiro Estate, you will see a sign for Casa Velha. Follow the sign to the left and after about 500m you will have reached Casa Velha.
