Location

Discover Madeira's diverse landscapes with 2 hikes, ranging from beginner-friendly to challenging. On-site, choose your 2 favorites from a total of 6 varied guided hikes led in German. On the day of the hike, you will be picked up by a transfer bus in front of your hotel. You will spend the rest of your holiday in your chosen hotel.
Accommodation is provided in a hotel of your choice in the Funchal or Canico/Canico de Baixo region, regardless of the variant booked.

Facilities

The hiking package includes 2 guided full-day hikes. You can choose from currently 6 possible guided hikes.
Please note that the hikes may involve up to 5 hours of pure walking time with ascents of up to 600 meters. Corresponding fitness, sure-footedness, and a head for heights are required. You do not need special equipment, but good hiking boots, sun/rain protection, a water bottle, and a flashlight should be part of your basic gear. Changes to the execution days and hikes are subject to change!

Hike 1: LEVADA 'JARDIM BOTANICO' + Botanical Garden entrance included (Monday), bookable in all seasons
On this easy levada hike, you will discover Madeira's flora and fauna and the 3000 plant species in the Botanical Garden.
Duration: approx. 1:15 hrs. (plus transfer time) + Botanical Garden visit, Length: approx. 2.5 km, Type: Half-day levada hike, Difficulty: Easy, Hiking boots required.
Please note that due to the included entrance fee for the Botanical Garden, this half-day hike is charged as a full-day hike.

Hike 2: LEVADA 'QUEIMADAS/CALDEIRAO VERDE' (Monday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
Lush laurel forest lines the path of Madeira's oldest levada. The tour's destination is a shady rock basin densely covered with ferns, featuring a tall waterfall. Some altitude will be gained, and several tunnels will be traversed. Duration: approx. 4:30 hrs. (plus transfer time), Length: approx. 13 km, Type: Full-day levada hike, Difficulty: Medium, Hiking boots and flashlight required.

Hike 3: LEVADA 'DO RIBEIRO FRIO/PORTELA' (Friday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)

Hike 4: LEVADA 'RABACAL/25 FONTES' (Wednesday/Sunday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
A beautiful 4-hour hike over 2 levadas with lush vegetation and waterfalls (Risco/25 Fountains).

Hike 5: LEVADA 'DO REI' (Saturday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
This levada hike leads through the beautiful São Jorge valley. Hike through Madeira's rainforest and discover the variety of herbs and medicinal plants that thrive abundantly in this valley. Walk through or behind a waterfall and discover a true paradise on earth. The incredible beauty of this place, where silence reigns, is breathtaking. You will find it hard to describe this mystical place in words. Duration: approx. 4 hrs. (plus transfer time), Length: approx. 11 km, Type: Full-day levada hike, Difficulty: Medium, Hiking boots required.

Hike 6: HIKE 'PONTA DE SAO LOURENCO' (Thursday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
Hike with spectacular views of the rugged rock landscape with tuff and basalt formations. It clearly shows that the island of Madeira is 100 percent of volcanic origin. Depending on the sun's position, the play of colors changes on the bizarre rock formations on the way to the easternmost tip of the island. The 15-minute ascent to the 'Elephant Head' at the end of the tour is worthwhile. Phenomenal views make this tour a unique experience.
