Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will introduce an "Eco-Tax". This requires every hotel room user in Mexico to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been implemented and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 72.63 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 3.72 US Dollars per room/per night.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

No smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, a higher incidence of brown algae in the Caribbean is often observed. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates some noise.
