Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".
Therefore, every guest occupying a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect and currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae are often found in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. This requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates a slight noise.
