Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".
Therefore, every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a state tax locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
****************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently costs a one-time 224 Mexican pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican pesos or US dollars.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Note

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased amount of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates a slight background noise.
