Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will introduce an "Eco-Tax". This requires every user of a hotel room in Mexico to pay a state levy locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been implemented and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Season Notice

For stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased presence of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period. The beach and sea are affected by this. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which emits a slight noise.
