**************************************
Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will gradually introduce an "Eco-Tax".
This means that every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obligated to pay a state levy locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
If you arrive after 5 PM, ferry transfer cannot be carried out on the same day.
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, increased amounts of brown algae are often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are naturally endeavoring to clean affected beach areas in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause some noise.
