Hotels in Mexico will be gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".
This means that every guest using a hotel room in Mexico is required to pay a tax to the state, payable in cash at the hotel.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the length of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the main living area of the hotel room without a separate partition.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Information

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may be observed due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, the Caribbean often experiences a higher concentration of brown algae during this period, affecting the beach and sea. The hotel management and local authorities are naturally endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. This requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
