Location

The family-run Hotel Amnissos Residence, managed with great care, is located in the village of Pigianos Kampos, approximately 150 m from the sand/shingle beach (natural beach; water shoes recommended; at the "Paraplous" tavern; a road must be crossed; food and drinks are available there for a fee). If desired, a free shuttle to the beach is offered (please contact reception for this).
A few shopping and entertainment options can be found in the immediate vicinity. The port city of Rethymnon, with its beautiful old town and magnificent boulevards, is only about 8 km away; a bus stop is located in front of the hotel. Heraklion Airport is about 75 km away.

This village-style Schauinsland-Reisen Original hotel was renovated in many areas for summer 2023. It features 87 rooms spread across a main building and several bungalow buildings, and offers a 24-hour reception, lobby, luggage storage, Wi-Fi (included throughout the entire complex), and the "Olive Tree" buffet restaurant.
A highlight is the rooftop bar "Open Sky," newly built in 2023, which invites guests to enjoy a cocktail in the evening with a beautiful view. The well-kept outdoor area of the hotel features a swimming pool with an integrated children's pool and a renovated sun terrace, which invites you to linger with its gazebos, poufs, and comfortable sun loungers. The tropical "Tropical" shisha bar by the main pool also provides refreshments (shisha for a fee).
Sun loungers and umbrellas are included at the pool and at the beach (at the "Paraplous" tavern; the tavern is for a fee). Beach towels are available for a deposit. Parking at the hotel is included subject to availability.
Valid for Summer 2027:
From summer 2027, the newly built "Diamond Spirit" area offers additional amenities. A successful combination of modern and traditional Cretan elements, warm colors, olive trees, sand beneath your feet, and fragrant herb gardens create a holiday atmosphere. A total of 147 rooms will then be available. All guests will be warmly welcomed in the expanded lobby area with a 24-hour reception. The existing modern "Olive Tree" restaurant offers ample space, live cooking stations, and varied buffets with Cretan and Greek dishes, as well as international influences. The "Theros" bar provides refreshments by the new pool. A new à la carte restaurant is now also available as "Meli&Thymari," offering authentic Cretan dishes. In the new outdoor area, a pool stretches around the new building and invites guests to swim laps (the pool has no interruptions; you can swim through under the bridges; the pool can be used by all room types). All ground-floor rooms offer a terrace with private sun loungers and direct access to the pool. For rooms on the first floor, comfortable sun loungers and Bali beds are available around the pool.
Above the new à la carte restaurant, the "Ammos&Nostos" lounge deck awaits guests looking for peace and quiet with a wonderful view and cozy furnishings. The adjacent "VistaFit" outdoor fitness area with state-of-the-art equipment also offers yoga classes.
A central meeting point between the two hotel parts is the new, typical Cretan "Rodaria" kafeneio. A meeting place to enjoy Greek coffee, raki, and light meze dishes amidst pleasant conversation.
A special highlight is the new "Elaia" area – a place to relax under shade-giving olive trees, with loungers for lounging, hammocks for dreaming, and six whirlpools.
A newly built paddle court provides sporty variety.

The double rooms located in the main building of the hotel feature a shower/WC, hairdryer, bath amenities, telephone, LCD satellite TV, Wi-Fi (included), individually adjustable air conditioning, safe (included), mini-fridge (can be used as a minibar upon request, refilling for a fee), coffee/tea-making facilities (refilled daily), and a balcony or terrace (D/DI). A bottle of water is in the room upon arrival.

Bungalow Deluxe

These rooms were newly built in winter 2021/2022 and offer more modern equipment (2BD).

Bungalow Whirlpool

These feature the same equipment as the double rooms, are renovated, and are located on the upper or lower floor of the bungalow buildings with a whirlpool on the terrace (2CW).

Double room Pool View (bookable from 2027)

The rooms are located on the first floor in the new Diamond Spirit area and feature a shower, separate WC, and a furnished terrace. They are equipped with 52" Smart TV, individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffee machine (daily refill), tea maker (daily refill), mini-fridge (refilled daily with one large bottle or two small bottles of water), hairdryer, and bath amenities. Once per stay, you can enjoy a private breakfast in the room (included) (bookable upon request, PD). Also available for single use (upon request, PDE).

Double room Whirlpool New Building (bookable from 2027)

With the same equipment as the double rooms Pool View and also located in the Diamond Spirit area, these rooms feature a whirlpool on the spacious balcony and are additionally equipped with bathrobes (WD2). Also available for single use (EDJ).
Once per stay, you can enjoy a private breakfast in the room (included).

Double room Executive Swim-Up New Building (bookable from 2027)

These rooms are located on the ground floor of the new Diamond Spirit area and are surrounded by a lagoon-style pool landscape. Bridges connect the accommodations with the opposite side, where olive trees and sand harmonize to shape the ambiance. With the same equipment as the double rooms Pool View, these are additionally equipped with bathrobes. Once per stay (min. 6 nights), you can enjoy a floating breakfast in the lagoon pool (upon request min. 2 days in advance at reception) (SWD). Also available for single use (SW1).
The swim-up pool is not monitored by a lifeguard. We ask for prudent behavior and special attention when using this area.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner take place in the main restaurant "Olive Tree." In the traditional "Rodaria" kafeneio, Greek coffee, raki (tsikoudia), and simple Cretan meze are served from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM in an authentic, village atmosphere.
In addition to the "Tropical" and "Open Sky" bar, the new "Theros" bar is also available from 11:00 AM-11:00 PM (All Inclusive until 11:00 PM, open until 1:00 AM).
The hotel supports local, Cretan companies for drinks and values regional products. Note on climate resilience tax

For stays starting from 1/1/2018, the Greek government charges a climate resilience tax, which is to be paid by the guest on-site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and is staggered from 1/1/2025 from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euro per day and room.
