Location

The popular hotel, with a magnificent view over the sea, is terraced into the coast above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital, Funchal, with its lively old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The cozy fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is only approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjacent seaside promenade. A complimentary shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (from Monday to Friday).

The adults-only hotel Orca Praia is furnished in a modern and cozy style and has a total of 128 rooms, reception, elevator, lounge, Sunset Bar, and a panoramic restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a swimming plateau at sea level bordered by rocks, featuring a freshwater swimming pool, 'Ocean' snack bar, and sun terrace (pool towels available against a deposit; sun loungers and parasols included).

The double rooms with sea view (without balcony) have the same facilities as the double room Superior sea view, but without a balcony. There is a small step on the way from the elevator to the room. (DM)

Double room Superior sea view

The comfortably furnished double rooms Superior sea view (approx. 28 m²) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, rental safe (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), and balcony. All rooms have a sea view, minibar/fridge, kettle, and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Additionally bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price for summer 26 and winter 26/27. All travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Double room Superior sea view Type I

With the same facilities as the double room Superior sea view, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) or half board plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

Same as the double room Superior sea view; exclusively bookable via Schauinsland-Reisen, located on the top four floors, thus offering a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Zusatzhinweis

"Sternfahrt" (Star Tour) excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos vantage point, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker toboggans. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbard fish – is caught). We continue via Cabo Girão (at 580m the highest cliff in Europe), and then the route takes us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, we head upwards to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. This is where the lunch break is taken. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we go up over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The route then leads downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of the laurel forest (Laurisilva) of Madeira, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The journey continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. This is where the lunch break is taken. Afterwards, we head to Pico do Facho. Return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us, after approx. 1.5 hours of Levada hiking (difficulty: easy), to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approx. 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
