Location

The popular hotel with a magnificent sea view is built in terraces into the coast above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital Funchal, with its lively old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The charming fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is only approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjacent promenade along the sea. A complimentary shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (Mondays to Fridays).

The Adults-only Hotel Orca Praia is modernly and comfortably furnished and has a total of 128 rooms, a reception, lift, lounge, sunset bar, and panorama restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a swimming area at sea level, bordered by rocks, with a freshwater swimming pool, 'Ocean' snack bar, and sun terrace (towels available for a deposit, loungers and umbrellas included).

Double Room Sea View

The Double Rooms Sea View (without balcony) have the same amenities as the Double Rooms Superior Sea View, but without a balcony. There is a small step on the way from the lift to the room. (DM)

Double Room Superior Sea View

The friendly furnished Double Rooms Superior Sea View (approx. 28 sqm) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, safety deposit box (for a fee), Wi-Fi (incl.) and balcony. All rooms have a sea view, minibar/refrigerator, kettle and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Additionally bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price in Summer 26. All participants must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Double Room Superior Sea View Type I

With the same amenities as the Double Rooms Superior Sea View, this room category can only be booked with Half Board (H) and Half Board Plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

Double Room Upper Floors Superior Sea View

These rooms are equivalent to the Double Rooms Superior Sea View, are exclusively bookable through schauinsland-reisen, located on the upper four floors, and thus offer a fantastic view of the Atlantic. Guests in this room category receive the following special services: Minibar stocked upon arrival, free use of the safe, and early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability) (XO2).

Double Room Upper Floor Superior Sea View Type I

With the same amenities as the Double Rooms Upper Floor Superior Sea View, this room category can only be booked with Half Board (H) and Half Board Plus (P) meal plans (HOI).

Junior Suite Superior Sea View

The Junior Suites Superior Sea View have the same amenities as the Double Rooms Superior Sea View, but are more spacious at approx. 37 sqm (2JM).

Suite Superior Sea View

The Suites Superior Sea View have the same amenities as the Double Rooms Superior Sea View, but are larger and have 2 separate bedrooms. The minimum occupancy is 4 people (SUM).

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then proceed to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you will have the opportunity to ride the traditional basket sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Depart in the direction of Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, ascend to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. A lunch break is taken here. The return journey is via the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend via the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Depart into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched houses. A lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us on a 1.5-hour Levada walk (difficulty: easy) to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
