The Alto Lido hotel is located just 2.5 km west of Funchal, offering a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean. The "Forum" shopping center, with numerous shops, as well as various bars and restaurants, are within walking distance. Funchal Airport is approximately 24 km from Alto Lido.

schauinsland-reisen original: This popular holiday hotel impresses with its modern ambiance and optimal location above the Atlantic. It offers a total of 315 rooms, junior suites, studios, and apartments. Further facilities include a modernly decorated reception, a lobby bar, elevators, and the buffet restaurant 'FLÔR DE SAL', which offers extensive buffets with local gastronomic specialties and weekly theme nights with special menus, as well as an à la carte restaurant overlooking the promenade. The outdoor area features a sun terrace, a swimming pool with a separate children's pool, and a pool bar. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included in the pool area. With otherwise the same amenities as the double rooms with side sea view, the double rooms with side sea view on upper floors (DOS) are located above the 10th floor and offer additional amenities such as bathrobes and slippers, access to the sauna and Turkish bath, as well as early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability).
Also bookable for single use (1OS).

Deluxe double room, sea view

The Deluxe double rooms with sea view (2DM) are approximately 30 sqm in size, have the same amenities as the double rooms with side sea view, but offer a direct sea view and have additional amenities such as bathrobes and slippers, access to the sauna and Turkish bath, as well as early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability) and a seating area.
Also bookable as a deluxe double room with sea view for single use (1DM) or as type I room (MDI) with limited availability.

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (highest cliff in Europe at 580m), then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, you ascend to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural swimming pools. The lunch break will take place here. The return journey will be along the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's Laurisilva forest, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. Continue to Santana, famous for its thatched houses. The lunch break will take place here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads you after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada walk (difficulty level: easy) to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
