The modern comfort hotel is located above the sea, directly on the promenade (with direct access through a gate). The shopping center "Forum" with numerous shops, as well as various bars and restaurants, are quickly reachable on foot. The center of Funchal city is approx. 3 km away (local bus connection from the hotel). The seawater swimming pool "Ponta Gorda" is located below the hotel (entrance fee required).

schauinsland-reisen original: The popular holiday hotel is located in the tourist center of Funchal, above the Lido. The hotel has a total of 215 accommodation units, spread over 11 floors. Further facilities include 3 elevators, a reception hall with a reception desk, and a bar with access to the panoramic terrace on the 6th floor with a fantastic view over the Atlantic Ocean. The buffet restaurant "Atlantic" and the à la carte restaurant "Sal" (on the 3rd floor of the hotel), which primarily serves Italian specialties, leave nothing to be desired. On the attractive sun terrace with panoramic views, there is the freshwater swimming pool (heated) with a separate children's pool and pool bar. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included in the pool area. Bath towels are free upon arrival (change for a fee).

Double Room Sea View

The approx. 25 sqm modernly designed Double Rooms Sea View are in a preferred location and face the sea directly. Further amenities include a bathroom with shower and toilet, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, kettle, telephone, safe (for a fee), minibar (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), desk, and a furnished balcony (DM). Also bookable as a Double Room Sea View for single occupancy (DEM).

Double Room Type I Sea View

The Double Rooms Type I Sea View have the same amenities as the Double Room Sea View, but with flexible pricing and a limited quota (DMI).

Double Room

The Double Rooms have the same amenities as the Double Rooms Sea View, but are located on the land side (D). Also bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price (YTR - all participants must be between 18 and 29 years old). Also bookable as Type O (DZO) with a limited quota.

Double Room Type I

The Double Rooms Type I have the same amenities as the Double Room, but with flexible pricing and a limited quota (DI).

Double Room Premium Sea View

The Premium Double Rooms Sea View are the same size and have the same amenities as the Double Rooms, but are located on the 8th to 11th floors of the hotel, thus offering a spectacular sea view. All Premium guests receive the following special services: A bottle of water, fruit basket, and gingerbread upon arrival in the room, bathrobes and slippers on loan, free access to the Turkish bath and sauna (with prior reservation at reception), and early check-in/late check-out subject to availability. The safe in the room is free. In addition, guests of the Premium Rooms benefit from exclusive access to the sun terrace on the 10th floor. 1x free dinner in the à la carte restaurant (drinks not included) when booking Premium Double Rooms Sea View with Half Board for a minimum stay of 7 nights (2PM).

The Family Rooms Sea View consist of 2 standard Double Rooms Sea View with a connecting door and offer ample space with approx. 50 sqm for up to 4 people (FM2).

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change / daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride in the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (highest sea cliff in Europe at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, you ascend to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural swimming pools. A lunch break is taken here. The return journey is via the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend via the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched houses. A lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us to the Botanical Garden after an approx. 1.5-hour levada walk (difficulty level: easy), famous for its around 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
