Location

The modern comfort hotel is located above the sea, directly on the promenade (with direct access through a gate). The "Forum" shopping center with numerous shops as well as various bars and restaurants can be reached quickly on foot. It is approx. 3 km to the center of Funchal (regular bus connection from the hotel). The "Ponta Gorda" seawater swimming pool is located below the hotel (admission for a fee).

schauinsland-reisen-Original: The popular holiday hotel is located in the tourist center of Funchal, above the Lido. The hotel has a total of 215 units distributed over 11 floors. Additional facilities include 3 lifts, a lobby with reception, and a bar with access to the panoramic terrace on the 6th floor with a fantastic view over the Atlantic. The "Atlantic" buffet restaurant features a new outdoor area where breakfast or dinner can be enjoyed al fresco. The à-la-carte restaurant "Sal" (on the 3rd floor of the hotel), which mainly serves Italian specialties, also leaves nothing to be desired. On the attractive sun terrace with panoramic views, there is a freshwater swimming pool (heatable) with a separate children's pool and the renovated "Blue" pool bar, which offers delicious snacks and fresh salads at lunchtime. Sun loungers and parasols are included in the pool area. Bath towels are provided free of charge upon arrival (change for a fee).

Double room sea view

The approx. 25 m² modernly designed double rooms with sea view are in a preferred location and face the sea directly. Additional features include a bathroom with shower and WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, electric kettle, telephone, safe (for a fee), minibar (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), desk, and a furnished balcony (DM). Also bookable as a double room with sea view for single use (DEM).

Double room type I sea view

The double rooms type I with sea view have the same facilities as the double room with sea view, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DMI).

Double room

The double rooms have the same facilities as the double rooms with sea view, but are located on the land side (D). Also bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price (YTR - all travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old). Also bookable as type O (DZO) with limited availability.

Double room type I

The double rooms type I have the same facilities as the double room, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DI).

Double room Premium sea view

The Premium double rooms with sea view have the same size and facilities as the double rooms, but are located on the 8th to 11th floor of the hotel and thus offer a spectacular sea view. All Premium guests receive the following special services: A bottle of water, fruit basket, and honey cake upon arrival in the room, bathrobes and slippers on loan, free access to the Turkish bath and sauna (with reservation at the reception), and early check-in/late check-out upon availability; the room safe is free of charge. In addition, guests of the Premium rooms benefit from exclusive access to the sun terrace on the 10th floor. 1x free dinner in the à-la-carte restaurant (drinks not included) when booking the Premium double rooms with sea view with half board meal plan for a minimum stay of 7 nights (2PM).

The family rooms with sea view consist of 2 standard double rooms with sea view with a connecting door and, at approx. 50 m², offer plenty of space for up to 4 people (FM2).

Zusatzhinweis

"Sternfahrt" excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos hill, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and the tour continues to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns' Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). We continue via Cabo Girão (with 580m, the highest cliff in Europe), and then the path leads us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, we go uphill to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we head downhill to Porto Moniz to the natural seawater pools. The lunch break is taken here. The return journey is taken via the north coast, leading through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we go uphill over the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The route then leads downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been named a World Heritage Site. The drive continues to Santana, which is famous for its thatched houses. The lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, we go to Pico do Facho. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty level: easy) to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approx. 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
