The modern comfort hotel is located above the sea, directly on the promenade (with direct access through a gate). The "Forum" shopping center with numerous shops, as well as various bars and restaurants, can be reached quickly on foot. It is approx. 3 km to the center of Funchal (bus connection from the hotel). The "Ponta Gorda" seawater swimming pool is located below the hotel (admission for a fee).

schauinsland-reisen-Original: The popular holiday hotel is situated in the tourist center of Funchal and is located above the Lido. The hotel has a total of 215 accommodation units spread over 11 floors. Additional facilities include 3 elevators, a lobby with reception, and a bar with access to the panoramic terrace on the 6th floor, offering a dreamlike view over the Atlantic. The "Atlantic" buffet restaurant offers a new outdoor area where breakfast or dinner can be enjoyed outside. The à-la-carte restaurant "Sal" (on the 3rd floor of the hotel), which primarily serves Italian specialties, leaves nothing to be desired. On the lovely sun terrace with panoramic views, there is a freshwater swimming pool (heatable) with a separate children's pool and the renovated "Blue" pool bar, where delicious snacks and fresh salads are offered at lunchtime. Sun loungers and parasols are included in the pool area. Pool towels are free of charge upon arrival (exchange for a fee).

The approx. 25 m² modern Double Rooms Sea View are located in a prime position and are oriented directly towards the sea. Further equipment includes a bathroom with shower and WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, kettle, telephone, rental safe (for a fee), minibar (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), desk, and a furnished balcony (DM). Also bookable as Double Room Sea View for single use (DEM).

The Double Rooms Type I Sea View have the same facilities as the Double Room Sea View, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DMI).

Double Room

The Double Rooms have the same facilities as the Double Rooms Sea View, but are located on the land side (D). Also bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price (YTR - all travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old). Also bookable as Type O (DZO) with limited availability.

The Double Rooms Type I have the same facilities as the Double Room, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DI).

Double Room Premium Sea View

The Premium Double Rooms Sea View have the same size and facilities as the Double Rooms, but are located on the 8th to 11th floors of the hotel and thus offer a spectacular sea view. All premium guests receive the following special benefits: A bottle of water, fruit basket, and honey cake upon arrival in the room, bathrobes and slippers on loan, free access to the Turkish bath and sauna, with prior reservation at the reception, and early check-in/late check-out upon availability; the safe in the room is free of charge. Star Tour excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the hill of Pico dos Barcelos, you can overlook the bay of Funchal, and the tour continues to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns' Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village, where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (highest cliff in Europe at 580m), and then the path leads us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, it goes uphill to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural seawater swimming pools. The lunch break is taken here. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, it goes uphill over the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The descent leads to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The journey continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. The lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, we go to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty level: easy) to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and tour included).

Directions from Funchal Airport (FNC):
Coming from the airport, take the Via Rapida (expressway) towards Funchal until the exit "Funchal Centro/Hospital". Turn left here, drive past the hospital (on the right-hand side) down to Avenida do Infante (stay in the right lane). Turn right there and keep left onto Estrada Monumental. Continue straight ahead, past the hotels Monumental Lido and Hotel Alto Lido.
